Gradient + Contrast Color Shawls

Love to knit with colors? In this video I am showing four shawl patterns that combine gradient yarns with contrast colors. Gradient yarns by definition contain several colors. Combine them with a solid contrast for stunning effects.

I am showing four designs that are different in size, shape, and technique - something for everybody. All yarns are available as kits (click on the color names below).

Shawl Patterns & Yarn Colors shown:

  1. Painted Honeycombs Shawl by Stephen West in colors SOUTHSEAS MEDLEY and NAVY (2 x 150 gr skeins)

  2. Midwestern Afternoon by Lisa Ross in colors HEMP and 4 x 10 gr contrast colors (1 x 100 gr/4 x 10 gr)*

  3. The Trickster by Nim Teasdale in colors EDINBURGH and NATURAL (1 x 150 gr/1 x 50 gr)

  4. Luna Moth Shawl by semuknits in colors EDINBURGH and BLACK (2 x 150 gr/2 x 100 gr)

The patterns are available on Ravelry.com = click on the shawl names (I am not affiliated with any of the designers)

  • Midwestern Afternoon Shawl: I am showing an adapted version knitted by my friend Bitty. You can find Bitty’s project notes here. To knit the pattern as written, the required yarn amount doubles: 2 x 100 gr skeins of HEMP and 4 x 20 gr contrast color skeins. We have kits for both versions available here.

Happy knitting !
