Sport Weight Yarns - Perfect for Shawls, Tops, & Cardigans

Sport weight yarns have just the right thickness: not too thick and not too thin - just right, as Goldilocks would say: Thick enough that one makes quick progress and yet thin enough for one’s projects to be wearable all year long. These yarns are perfect for knitting and crocheting shawls, wraps, summer tops, and cardigans.

In this video I am introducing our three blends of sport weight yarns:

a) Cotton

b) Cotton/Silk/Merino

c) Cotton Bouclé

All three bases have the same yardage (320 yards/100 gr) and the same gauge (22 stitches/4 inches) knitted on a US size 6 needle.

Items & yarns shown in this video:

Upstairs Shawl (free design by Wollschnegge) knitted in 3 x 100 gr Color Changing Cotton Sport weight

Bell Yoke Tee (design by Angela Hahn) knitted in 3 x 100 gr Cotton Heather Sport weight; shown in colors SCARLETT and MAUVE

NOTE: In the video I mistakenly called the pattern "Tulip Top" - the correct name is Bell Yoke Tee. Also, it takes three skeins to knit this top in size medium, not two.

Heat It Up Shawl (design by Paper Daisy Creations) knitted in 2 x 100 gr Cotton/Silk/Merino Sport weight shown in color REEL

Karnickel Shawl (design by Martina Behm) knitted in 2 x 100 gr Cotton/Silk/Merino Sport weight shown in colors BANANARAMA and STEEL

Vitamin D Cardigan (design by Heidi Kirmaier) knitted in 4 x 100 gr Cotton/Silk/Merino Sport weight shown in color ART DECO

Banksia Shawl (design by Ambah O'Brien) knitted in 2 x 100 gr Cotton/Silk/Merino Sport weight shown in color CHOCOLATE

Color Love Shawl (design by Veera Välimäki) knitted in 3 x 100 gr Cotton/Silk/Merino Sport weight shown in colors TEAL, ROYAL BLUE, and RED

Several of the sample shawls were knitting by my friend Bitty. Thank you!!!

Happy knitting !
